Expertise:
A Botanist/Synantherologist with specialization in Plant Reproductive Biology & Systematics;added advantage - sound background in General Agriculture, practised and taught Plant Protection over 18 years; have been teaching in tertiary institutions since 1978.Done some considerable work on Systematics of Nigerian/West African Flora; majoring especially on the family Asteraceae. The focus of my research has been on the promotion of knowledge on Plant Morphology, Reproductive and Survival Strategies, Cytogenetics and Innovative use of tropical (Nigeria) plants - often referred to as orphan plants in the developed World. Orphan presumably, because the forests in this part of the globe is full of several plants too few people are doing anything with in terms of Research Investigations. My approach has encompassed active germplasm exploration and detailed studies on plant growth forms and gene-ecological surveys.
